Dust Chamber (IP 5X, 6X) suitable to check dust-proof luminaires (first characteristic IP numeral 5 and 6) and dust-tight luminaires for the entry of dust particles inside it as per Cl: 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of IS: 10322 (Part- 1:2014) and IS/IEC 60529 with latest amendments.
The test is made using a dust chamber incorporating the basic principle shown in fig.-2 of IEC 60529. Luminaries/objects are tested in this dust chamber in which talcum powder is maintained in suspension by air. A glass window with a wiper is provided in this chamber through which the luminary’s position, ON and OFF conditions of the specimen can be viewed.
Internal- 16 swg (1.5 mm) SS and External: 18 SWG MS CRCA with both powder coated finish. Insulation – 40mm thick glass wool insulation. Door- Full front opening door, double-walled, insulated. Suitable gasket, hinges, and latches- Heavy-duty hinges with toggle-type locking arrangement. Mounting- Fixed type. Finish- Powder coated finish.
A blower with a motor will be provided to spray the dust in the chamber. The blower will suck the air (dust) from the chamber through a suction pipe and pass through the duct and will spray on top of the chamber. The amount of talcum powder used will be 2kg/cu- meter of the test chamber volume (talcum powder used can pass through a sieve mesh of wire dia 50μm and dist b/w two wires 75μm). Suitable ducting will be provided for spraying the dust in the chamber. The blower will be suitable to make suspension of talcum powder in the chamber workspace. A suitable capacity vibrator is provided to vibrate the chamber as and when required.
The suitable capacity vacuum pump will be provided with a suitable vacuum valve and dust filter. A pressure gauge (vacuum meter) will be provided for measuring pressure inside the sample. The sample under test will be supported inside the test chamber by a trolley/stand and the pressure inside the sample will be maintained below the surrounding atmospheric pressure by a vacuum pump. A suitable pipeline with a flexible connection and flexible hose is provided to make the proper suction, connecting to the device under test. A rotameter (Air flow meter) will also be provided. To maintain the internal ambient temp (during the Rainy/ Winter season) suitable heaters are provided in the unit.
A separate control panel will be provided fitted with an Autotransformer, Voltmeter, Rotameter (Flow meter), Vacuum gauge, etc., valve, ON/OFF switches, fuse, contactors, mains indicating lamps, and Power ON and OFF Push Buttons, etc.
