Oscillating Test Tube Testing Equipment for testing Degree of protection against ingress of water tests IPX3 i.e. Water rainproof test and IPX4 i.e. water splashproof tests as per IS /IEC 60529 with latest amendments. The test equipment – Oscillating tube is to verify the degree of protection provided against the spraying of water for IPX3 and IPX4 degree of protection provided at 60° and 180° respectively.

The Oscillating tube with a maximum radius of 800 mm and a number of nozzles are 52 and they are mounted at a distance of 50mm b/w them. The oscillating tube will be capable of oscillating over the test sample on either side vertically through 60° (total 120° for IP X3) and 180° (almost 360° for IP X4) with one complete oscillation is about 4 seconds and 12 seconds respectively as required by the IS /IEC 60529 with latest amendments. Both the IP X3 and IP X4 tests can be conducted in the same equipment, the provision for blocking the jet holes as and when required for conducting IPX3 and IPX4 tests is provided.
The tube has oscillated with the help of a suitably geared DC stepper motor with couplers, controller and control valve, pressure gauge(0- 2 kg/cm2), and Rota meter (0- 10 LPM) provided to control and measure the pressure of water.
The luminaries/object is mounted above the pivot line of the tube and is kept below the Centre of the circle with adjusted height so that jets of water are directed towards the luminaries. An electric pump is provided for the supply of water.
In rain proof luminaries test (IP X3) the tube will be perforated so that jets of water are directed towards the Centre of the circle and the water pressure at the inlet of the apparatus will be approx. 80 kN/m2. In splashproof (IP X4) luminaries water is sprayed from every direction by means of spray apparatus.
Test apparatus mainly consists of a Semi-circular arc tube SS pipe coupled to a suitable motor directly or by means of the gearbox, these motors are slow RPM motors with high torque, and speed is controlled through HMI and PLC. The tube has oscillated with the help of a suitable motor coupler PWM controller and a total angle of 120o or 360o for rainproof and splash-proof respectively. The device under test is mounted at the Centre of the table with 1RPM motor driver unit.

In HMI Provision is made for test type selection (360 o or 120o), turning ON/OFF the Rotation, Luminaire, and water pump. For Luminaire and total test, the pre-settable time (test time) is Provided. After completion of the set time (test time), test completed indication will appear.

Turn Table / Luminaire Rotating System suitable to use during IPX 3 and IPX4 Water Test in luminaires consisting of Geared Motor, set of reduction gear, set of copper strips with spring loaded carbon bushes to give continuous power supply to the luminaire during the test [luminaire can be switched ON during its rotation while testing]. The luminaires is made to turn about their vertical axis during the test at a rate of approx. 1 revolution per minute and the sample mounting stand can be adjustable up and down. All items are housed in an SS outer water-tight cabinet enclosure.
All the necessary controls like LCD, rotary switch, MCB, Fuse, SSR, Emergency switch, Indicator lamp, etc are housed in the stand-alone control panel, which is fabricated in the SS material.
