Vertically falling raindrop testing facility for testing degree of protection against ingress of water tests IPX1 and IPX2 as per IS /IEC 60529 with latest amendments. The drip box is to verify the degree of protection provided against vertically falling for IPX1 and for IPX2 at 15 ° (achievable by tilting the turn table by 15 degrees on each side). Drip-proof luminaires (Second characteristics IP numeral 1) are subjected for 10 min to an artificial rainfall of 3mm/min, falling vertically from a height of 200 mm above the top of the luminaires. The test setup is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of IS/IEC 60529 with the latest amendments for IPX1 and IPX2 tests on electrical equipment enclosures. The vertical rainfall area of coverage is 2 feet x 5 feet. The water drip box is height adjustable and the rise and fall is motorized with proper control. The maximum rise of the vertical rain drip box is approx. 4 feet(adjustable from 2 feet to 4 feet) from the ground/floor level. Nozzles are fitted at a distance of 20 mm pitch and hence total of 2250 nozzles are provided in the drip box. The complete rain drip test setup is also movable on the test floor to reach the turn table and the product under testing with ease and convenience. The test facility is provided with filters to overcome and prevent the pinholes from getting blocked. The materials used for the construction drip box are stainless steel of grade SS 304 and other structural parts are extruded industrial-grade aluminum.
A suitable turn table is also supplied with rotation 1 RPM to use during the above test consisting of a Geared Motor, set of reduction gear, etc.
Other controls like water level controller, rotary switch, ON/OFF switches, MCB, emergency Switch, Indicator lamp, etc are housed in a separate panel box fitted on the side of the equipment.
